Activision's newest Call of Duty continues to break records, and exceeds last year's record breaking Call of Duty release.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II earned $500 million in its first day sales. Activision stated today that 24-hour sales for Treyarch's recent Call of Duty game hit $500 million worldwide, based on sell-through information and internal company estimates.
Activision CEO Robert Kotick mentioned that the franchise sales to the Call of Duty series have finally capped the entire box-office revenue earned by both Star Wars and Harry Potter movie franchises.
“With first day sales of over half a billion dollars worldwide, we believe Call of Duty is the biggest entertainment launch of the year for the fourth year in a row,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision
