A latest interview with Ubisoft’s chief sales and marketing officer Geoffroy Sardin suggests that the ‘fast tracked’ movie will be coming next year.
The publisher had "fast-tracked" the movie by having a partnership with New Regency. Ubisoft's deal with New Regency enables the game creator to maintain control of "key elements" of the film's creative direction.
Michael Fassbender, who played major roles in Inglourious Basterds, Prometheus, and Shame will take the leading role of the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. No further cast members, director, or producers have been announced for the movie.
